Why do we need to know about Transitional Design? This is a popular train. Designers see a drastic increase in the number of clients who want to combine traditional elements (such as wainscoting or antique furniture) with clean modern furniture.

Nevertheless, for some people to define and implement a Transitional Design is not that simple. The boundaries to what extent the blend between traditional and contemporary elements is still not so clear. Here are some of the main features of Transitional Design that you can use as a guide in building this design.

Tone of Natural Color

The main key in implementing transitional designs is to stick to a natural color palette. Transitional design is basically a minimalist design, so a clean and spacious impression is also a priority in this design. Choose calming natural colors, such as white, brown, grey, olive, vanilla and other natural colors. If you’re pleased with the neutral color, make a layer on the tip or floor. Blue or pastel is also often used in transitional-style rooms.

Furniture is straight and curved

Furniture in Transitional design has a combination of the shape of straight lines that characterize modern furniture with the curved shape that characterizes traditional furniture. However, such combinations do not give an exaggerated impression and remain to look solid and simple, such furniture shape also gives the impression of a fusion between the feminine and masculine elements. Furniture should also be the main concern in the room, so its size should fit the room. Ideally, the furniture is the foundation for the transitional design, while the rest can be followed by furniture.

Not excessive accessories

The minimalist approach is used in this design so that only certain accessories are selected. Do not use too much accessories so that the room is not too heavy and excessive. Anggrek in an elegantly curved pot in front of the window, a white tick showing photos in simple black and silver frames, an oval wooden rest as the place of a silver candle of similar shape. This type of clustering provides a balance in the room without making it full of clutter.

The eternal wood

Wood is still a major star in the Transitional style of design. In Transitional designs, the natural and sensitive texture and detail of wood remained as a unique artistic value. You can choose wood furniture that has texture.

Elements with outstanding textures

Incorporating textural elements such as wood, glass, lacquer, rotan, fabric, steel and metal with outstanding textures and patterns is one of the characteristics of Transitional design. You can also use antiques, whether used or new, into the home to give a little classic touch.

Excellent Fabric

Fabric or fabric materials, especially those used on couch pads are the main concern in Transitional design. The lack of color makes the room need an attractive texture. Use fabric materials such as the olive-colored korduroi found on the painted sofas and soft cream white cotton used on the two side seats. Other great options for transitional rooms are suede, chenille, velvet, and leather.

Add Mirrors and Metallic Elements

Although Transitional Design is more identical to wooden furniture, it does not mean that the glass and metal elements are forgotten in this design. Transitional designs also frequently use metal glass and iron elements that serve to reinforce futuristic modern nuances. Add minimalist mirrors, and iron furniture coated with silver or metallic paint to balance the traditional elements.
